Founded in June 2010, Kingsland Court Trustee Services was established with a clear mission: to
bring a higher level of independent professionalism to the management of retirement benefits
schemes. We specialize in offering corporate trustee solutions for businesses of all sizes, ensuring
compliance with regulatory requirements while enabling our clients to focus on growing their
businesses.

Our clients rely on Kingsland Court for expert oversight. By easing the burden of compliance
and governance, we empower businesses to stay focused on their core operations while we
handle the complexities of retirement benefits management.

We are a trusted partner, registered by both the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) and the
Capital Markets Authority (CMA) as a Corporate Trustee.

OUR ROLE

Kingsland Court takes on a comprehensive trustee role, managing essential functions such as Trust Secretariat duties, Compliance Management, Governance and Risk Management Services. We work closely with key service providers such as administrators, investment managers, and custodians to ensure regular reporting and effective communication to safeguard the interests of our clients and their investors.

As an integral part of our governance model, we focus on risk management, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating legal, operational, investment, and financial risks.

OUR SERVICES

Kingsland Court Trustee Services offers a range of tailor-made solutions that align with RBA's Risk-Based Supervision model and best governance practices.

1. Trust Secretariat services:

  • Maintain and update scheme documents.
  • Organize Trustee Committee meetings and keep accurate minutes.
  • Ensure timely regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee the selection and management of service providers, including drafting service agreements.
  • Managing selection of service providers, including review of service agreements.
  • Monitoring the performance and managing relations with service providers and advisors, including analyzing their reports and providing relevant guidance to the client.

2. Compliance Management

Ensure compliance with the terms of the Trust Deed, relevant laws and regulations e.g. Retirement Benefits Act and Regulations, Capital Markets Act and Regulations, Income Tax Act, and relevant regulations

3. Governance and Risk Management:

  • Develop and implement governance policies in line with industry best practices.
  • Design and maintain a comprehensive risk evaluation and mitigation plan.

David Nyakundi

David Nyakundi

Chairman to the Board of Directors
Mr. Nyakundi, is a seasoned pension law and regulation expert with over 27 years of experience. He played a pivotal role in drafting the RBA subsidiary legislation and where he led the supervision function at the Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) for over a decade. He was the first Chief Executive Officer of Uganda’s Pension Supervisory Agency (URBRA), where he developed key supervisory systems. David has provided advisory services to international organizations, including the International Monetary Fund. He has also played a major in establishing pension regulations and social security laws for Tanzania, Rwanda, Gambia, Bhutan, and Mozambique. Additionally, he was consulted by the Government of Kenya to develop the National Retirement Benefits Policy. As a practicing Advocate and member of the Kenyan Bar, David heads a pension law practice, offering counsel on regulatory requirements, pension taxation, licensing, governance, and representing clients in pension-related disputes.He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Nairobi, specializing in International Trade and Investments Law.

Mr. Kevin Aricha

Managing Director
Mr. Kevin Aricha is a seasoned governance consultant and coach with over a decade of experience in the East African retirement benefits industry. He has played a key role in the establishment of Kingsland Court Trustee Services Limited, where he currently serves as the Managing Director and lead consultant, having risen through the ranks over the past 16 years. In his role as an Executive Director, Mr. Aricha chairs Boards of various retirement benefits and collective investment schemes, focusing on fostering good governance and implementing best practices. Mr. Aricha holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Nairobi and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is also a Certified Trustee Development Program Kenya (TDPK) trainer at the College of Insurance, where he has trained boards for over five years. With extensive experience in training boards, conducting governance audits, and developing governance structures, Mr. Aricha is a strong advocate for good governance practices. He emphasizes the need for boards to continuously adapt to emerging challenges in the performance of their duties.

Mr. Omae Nyarandi

Management
Mr. Omae, holds an MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi and bring over 30 years of experience in General Management, Strategy, Finance, and Procurement. He is a Certified Public Accountant, Kenya (CPAK), a Certified Secretary, Kenya (CSK), and a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS). Currently finalising on his PhD at the University of Nairobi, titled Governance, Stakeholder Management, Government Policy, and Performance of Eastern Africa Transport Corridors.need for boards to continuously adapt to emerging challenges in the performance of their duties
